Article 1. The basic concepts used in this Law of the Law on Aquaculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan 

     The following basic concepts are used in this Law:

     1) aquaculture – activities related to the breeding and (or) maintenance, cultivation of aquaculture facilities;

     2) aquaculture facilities – fish, aquatic mollusks and crustaceans that are bred and (or) kept and grown by aquaculture entities;

     3) juveniles of aquaculture facilities – fertilized eggs, larvae, fingerlings, yearlings and two-year-olds of aquaculture facilities intended for their breeding and (or) maintenance, cultivation, as well as stocking of reservoirs;

     4) fish farming and biological justification in the field of aquaculture (hereinafter referred to as biological justification) is a set of scientifically based recommendations developed as a result of research and scientific data, assessment of the current state and potential of fisheries reservoirs and (or) sites, fish ponds, fish pools, as well as the use of technologies related to breeding and (or) maintenance and cultivation of aquaculture facilities;

     5) the authorized body in the field of aquaculture (hereinafter referred to as the authorized body) is the central executive body responsible for the management and intersectoral coordination in the field of aquaculture;

     6) subjects of aquaculture – individuals and (or) legal entities engaged in activities related to the breeding and (or) maintenance, cultivation of aquaculture facilities;

     7) aquaculture information system – an information system of an authorized body designed to monitor and analyze the development of aquaculture, maintain a register of aquaculture entities and traceability of aquaculture facilities, including processed products, as well as to collect and generate data and information, and ensure digitalization in the field of aquaculture;

     8) fish farming is a branch of aquaculture related to the breeding and (or) maintenance and cultivation of fish;

     9) fish–breeding pool - a container and (or) a structure loosely connected to the ground, intended for breeding and (or) maintenance, cultivation of aquaculture facilities;

     10) fish farming facilities – non-capital structures (mobile complex, container-type structures, taken under one roof or separately standing), erected on a water protection strip, intended for the location of technical personnel, equipment for incubation of eggs, rearing of juveniles of aquaculture facilities, storage of aquaculture products, feed, fishing gear, special devices (cages), as well as protection of aquaculture facilities;

     11) fish pond – an artificially created technological reservoir intended for breeding and (or) maintenance, cultivation of aquaculture facilities, which is filled with water through water management and (or) hydraulic structures or other devices;

     12) closed–loop water supply installation - an installation with a closed-loop water circulation system using mechanical and biological purification and other components in order to effectively use water for aquaculture.
