On the accession of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Convention on the Political Rights of Women

The Republic of Kazakhstan should join the Convention on the Political Rights of Women, opened for signature and ratification by Resolution 640 (VII) of the UN General Assembly on December 20, 1952.

Convention on the Political Rights of Women
It was opened for signature and ratification by General Assembly resolution 640 (VII) of December 20, 1952. Entry into force: On July 7, 1954, in accordance with article VI.
The Contracting Parties, desiring to implement the principle of equal rights of men and women specified in the Charter of the United Nations, recognizing that everyone has the right to participate in the government of their country directly or through freely elected representatives and the right of equal access to public service in their country, and desiring to equalize, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the Organization The United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the status of men and women with regard to the possession and enjoyment of political rights, Having decided to conclude a convention for this purpose, we hereby agree as follows:
Article I
Women have the right to vote in all elections, on equal terms with men, without any discrimination.
Article II
Women may be elected, on equal terms with men, without any discrimination, to all institutions established by national law requiring public elections.
Article III
Women have the right, on equal terms with men, without any discrimination, to hold positions in public service and to perform all public functions established by national law.
Article IV
1. This Convention is open for signature by any Member of the United Nations, as well as by any other States that have received an invitation from the General Assembly. 2. This Convention is subject to ratification and the instruments of ratification shall be deposited with the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Article V
1. This Convention is open for accession by all States referred to in paragraph 1 of article IV. 2. Accession shall be effected by the deposit of a declaration of accession with the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Article VI
1. This Convention shall enter into force on the ninetieth day following the date of deposit of the sixth instrument of ratification or declaration of accession. 2. For each State that ratifies or accedes to this Convention after the deposit of the sixth instrument of ratification or declaration of accession, the Convention shall enter into force on the ninetieth day after such State deposits its instrument of ratification or declaration of accession.
Article VII
If a State submits a reservation to an article of this Convention, the Secretary-General, at the time of signature, ratification or accession, shall communicate the text of this reservation to all States that are or may become parties to this Convention. Any State that objects to this reservation may, within a period of ninety days from the date of the said communication (or from the date on which it became a party to the Convention), notify the Secretary-General that it does not accept it. In such a case, the Convention does not enter into force between such a State and the reserving State.
Article VIII
1. Any State may denounce this Convention by notifying the Secretary-General of the United Nations in writing. The denunciation shall take effect one year after the date of receipt of this notification by the Secretary General. 2. This Convention shall expire on the date of entry into force of the denunciation, after which the number of countries in the Convention will be less than six.
Article IX
Any dispute that has arisen between any two or more Contracting States concerning the interpretation or application of this Convention, which is not settled by negotiation, shall be referred, at the request of either party to the dispute, unless they agree on another procedure for its settlement, to the International Court of Justice.
Article X
The Secretary-General of the United Nations shall notify all Members of the United Nations and those non-Member States referred to in paragraph 1 of article IV of this Convention.: (a) Signatures and ratifications received in accordance with article IV; (b) declarations of accession received in accordance with article V; (c) The date of entry into force of this Convention in accordance with article VI; (d) Communications and notifications received in accordance with article VII; (e) Notifications of denunciation received in accordance with paragraph 1 of article VIII; (f) Termination of the Convention in accordance with paragraph 2 of article VIII.
Article XI
1. The present Convention, of which the Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish texts are equally authentic, shall be deposited in the archives of the United Nations. 2. The Secretary-General of the United Nations shall transmit certified copies to all Members of the United Nations and to those non-Member States referred to in paragraph 1 of article IV.
