PROTOCOL on Amendments and Additions to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on the procedure for the stay of Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the Territory of the Kyrgyz Republic and Citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic on the Territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 11, 2012

The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, hereinafter referred to as the Parties,

in order to further develop friendly relations between the two States and to legally regulate the travel of their citizens,

Having regard to the provisions and principles of the Treaty of Eternal Friendship between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic dated April 8, 1997,

Desiring to create favorable conditions for the stay of citizens of one State on the territory of another State,

have agreed on the following:

Article 1

Article 1 of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on the procedure for the stay of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic and citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic on the Territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 11, 2012, should be worded as follows:

"Article 1

1. Citizens of the State of one Party temporarily staying in the territory of the State of the other Party shall be exempt from the obligation to register (register at the place of stay) with the competent authorities of the Receiving Party within 30 calendar days.

2. The period of temporary stay specified in paragraph 1 of this Article shall be calculated from the date of entry of a citizen of the State of one Party into the territory of the State of the other Party, confirmed by a migration card and (or) a mark of border control authorities affixed upon entry into the territory of the State of the Receiving Party.

3. If a citizen of the State of one Party stays in the territory of the State of the other Party for more than 30 calendar days, the said citizen is obliged to register (register at the place of stay) with the competent authorities of the Receiving Party in accordance with its legislation.

4. The registration of citizens of the State of one Party is carried out for a period not exceeding 90 calendar days from the moment of crossing the State Border of the State of the Party of entry, and may be extended for the same period.".

Article 2

Disputes concerning the interpretation and implementation of this Protocol shall be settled through consultations and negotiations between the Parties.

Article 3

1. This Protocol shall enter into force on the date of receipt, through diplomatic channels, of the last written notification by the Parties of the completion of the internal procedures necessary for its entry into force.

Done in Astana on October 17, 2016, in two copies, each in the Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Russian languages, all texts being equally authentic.
