The Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China, hereinafter referred to as the Contracting Parties, guided by the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, in accordance with the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China on the Russian-Chinese State Border on its Western Part dated September 3, 1994 and the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China on Kazakh-Chinese state border dated April 26, 1994, In order to determine the location of the junction point of the state borders of the three States, we have agreed on the following:
Article 1 The point of junction of the state borders of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China, hereinafter referred to as the junction point of the state borders of the three states, is located on the watershed of the Southern Altai Range (Altai Ridge) approximately 3.00 km southwest of the height with a mark of 3086, located on the territory of the Russian Federation, approximately 2.90 km south-southeast of the height with a mark of 3339 located on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, approximately 2.81 km north-northeast of the elevation of 2988, located on the territory of The People's Republic of China. Coordinates of the junction point of the state borders of the three states: Geographical: 49o 06.9' north latitude; 87o 17.2' east longitude; rectangular: X = 5,442,595, Y = 15,520,905, height - 3327. The coordinates and elevation marks are given in the 1942 coordinate system and the Baltic Elevation System.
Article 2 The location of the junction point of the State borders of the three States is shown by a red circle on a 1:50,000 scale map attached to this Agreement and forming an integral part of it. The distances and elevation markings referred to in Article 1 of this Agreement, as well as the geographical and rectangular coordinates of the junction point of the state borders of the three States, are determined on the specified map.
Article 3 From the junction point of the State borders of the three States, the State border lines run as defined by the existing border treaties between the respective States.
Article 4 Due to the fact that the junction point of the state borders of the three states is located at the top of a ridge covered with eternal snow, in an inaccessible place, the Contracting Parties agreed not to install a border sign at this point.
Article 5 This Agreement shall enter into force on the date of sending the last
a written notification on the fulfillment by the Contracting Parties of the internal procedures necessary for its entry into force.
Done in Almaty on May 5, 1999, in three copies, each in the Russian, Kazakh and Chinese languages.
In case of disagreement in the interpretation of this Agreement The Contracting Parties will proceed from the texts in Russian and Chinese.
