About the border troops of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 18, 1992 No. 862
Guided by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the State Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and the Agreement of the Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States on the Protection of State Borders and Maritime Economic Zones of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States,
I decree:
1. To form the Border Troops of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of the border formations of the Eastern Border District stationed in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2. To take the Alma Ata Higher Frontier Command School named after F.E. Dzerzhinsky under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
3. Paragraphs 3.4 became invalid by Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 19, 1995 N 2284.
5. The border troops of the Republic of Kazakhstan should be guided by international treaties, agreements on border issues of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States and legal acts of the former USSR that do not contradict the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The heads of local administrations should assist the Border Troops in ensuring the protection and regime of the state border.
6. Extend to the Border Troops of the Republic of Kazakhstan the effect of Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 16, 1992 No. 674 "On measures for the social protection of military personnel and persons discharged from military service in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan." 7. To the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan:
to approve, within 2 months, the Regulations on the Border Troops of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other regulations on the Border Troops of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
to prepare and submit to the Supreme Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan draft Laws "On the State Border of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and "On the Border Troops of the Republic of Kazakhstan";
Implement financial, food, medical, and logistical support measures for the Border Troops.
8. The Decree comes into force from the moment of signing.
