1. The following basic concepts are used in this Law:

1) a control digit is a digital symbol that completes a sequence of digital symbols that make up an individual identification number designed to control the correctness of its formation.;

1-1) business identification number - a unique number generated for a legal entity (branch and representative office) and an individual entrepreneur operating as a joint venture;

2) The National Register of Business Identification Numbers is a state database designed to record and store information about legal entities (branches and representative offices) established and discontinued in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, individual entrepreneurs operating as joint ventures, and the formation and storage of information about assigned business identification numbers;

3) individual identification number – a unique number generated for an individual;

4) The National Register of Individual Identification Numbers is a state database designed to generate, record, and store information about individual identification numbers and information about individuals to whom they are assigned;

5) the authorized state body (hereinafter referred to as the authorized body) is the state body responsible for the formation of identification numbers and the maintenance of national registers of identification numbers.;

6) identification number - an individual identification number or a business identification number expressed in the form of a sequence of numeric characters that make it possible to record information related to a particular person in national registers of identification numbers.;

7) identification number document - a document issued by the registration authority confirming the existence of an identification number;

8) identification number generation is the process by which an authorized body generates an identification number in national registers of identification numbers based on information about individuals and legal entities (branches and representative offices);

9) national registers of identification numbers - information systems designed for registration of individual and business identification numbers;

10) registration authorities – government agencies and the State Corporation "Government for Citizens", which register information and issue documents with an identification number.

2. Special concepts of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on national registers of identification numbers not specified in this article are used in the meanings defined in the relevant articles of this Law.

3. The official abbreviation for specifying identification numbers on documents is:

1) IIN - for an individual identification number;

2) BIN - for the business identification number.

This Law defines the goals, objectives, principles and legal basis for the creation and maintenance of national registers of identification numbers based on the formation of an identification number for an individual, a legal entity (branch and representative office).
