1. The city of Almaty is a city of national importance.

2. The legal status of the city of Almaty is determined by this Law and other regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 1, 1998 No. 258.

This Law establishes the legal framework that defines the special status of the city of Almaty, based on its characteristics as a scientific, cultural, historical, financial and industrial center, guarantees for its further development by establishing measures of financial, economic and social incentives.
