The following basic concepts are used in this Law:

1) territorial association of trade unions – an association of trade unions at the level of a district, city, region, city of republican significance and the capital;

2) social partnership is a system of relationships between employees (employee representatives), employers (employer representatives), and government agencies aimed at ensuring coordination of their interests in regulating labor relations and other issues directly related to labor relations, as well as socio–economic relations based on equal cooperation.;

3) the primary organization of a trade union is a structural subdivision of a trade union located directly in the organization and consisting of trade union members who are employees of this organization.;

4) a local trade union is a voluntary association of employees of one or more organizations connected by common labor, industrial and professional interests.;

5) a trade union member is an individual who has voluntarily expressed a desire and joined a trade union, who recognizes and adheres to its charter, and pays union membership fees.;

6) a trade union (trade union) is a public association with a fixed membership, voluntarily established on the basis of the common labor, industrial and professional interests of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan to represent and protect the labor and socio-economic rights and interests of its members;

7) trade union body – a governing body formed in accordance with the charter of the trade union;

8) membership organization – trade unions, their associations that are members of a trade union, their associations at the appropriate level of social partnership in accordance with the procedure established by this Law, recognizing and observing their charters;

9) republican association of trade unions – an association of branch trade unions, territorial trade union associations at the level of the region, the city of republican significance and the capital;

10) an industrial trade union is an association of employees of one branch of activity (types or subspecies of economic activity) and related industries, local trade unions connected by common labor, industrial and professional interests.

This Law regulates public relations resulting from the exercise by citizens of the constitutional right to freedom of association, the creation, operation, reorganization and liquidation of trade unions.
