Article 113-3. Nomination of a candidate for akim of the Constitutional Law on Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan
1. The nomination of a candidate for akim is carried out by political parties registered in accordance with the established procedure from among their members, citizens by self-nomination by submitting to the territorial election commission of the relevant electoral district an application of intention to run as a candidate for akim, as well as by a higher akim, if less than two candidates have been nominated on the day of the end of the nomination period.
A political party has the right to nominate only one candidate in one electoral district.
2. The decision of the supreme governing body of the relevant branch (representative office) of a political party on the nomination of a candidate for akim is formalized by an extract from the protocol.
3. Decision of the supreme governing body of the relevant branch (representative office) of a political party:
1) it is brought to the attention of the nominated candidate;
2) together with the candidate's statement of consent to run, it is sent to the relevant territorial election commission simultaneously with an extract from the protocol on the nomination of a candidate for akim.
4. No one may be nominated as a candidate in more than one electoral district.
5. The nomination of candidates begins on the day following the day of the election and ends at eighteen o'clock local time thirty days before the day of the election of mayors of districts, cities of regional significance and twenty-five days before the day of the election of mayors of cities of regional significance, villages, towns, rural districts, unless otherwise specified at the appointment elections.
6. If less than two candidates for akims have been nominated as of the end of the nomination period, the relevant territorial election commission shall extend the nomination period for no more than three days.
In this case, the superior akim, in the absence of nominated candidates or the nomination of one candidate on the day of the end of the nomination period, has the right to nominate two or one candidate, respectively.
