Article 14. Termination of refugee status of the Refugee Act

Article 14. Termination of refugee status of the Refugee Act

     1. Refugee status is terminated if a person:

     1) has acquired the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan or another state and enjoys the protection of the State of which he has become a citizen;

     2) can no longer refuse to use the protection of the country of his nationality, since the circumstances on the basis of which he was recognized as a refugee have changed;

     3) who has lost the citizenship of his former state, voluntarily re-accepted it;

     4) voluntarily re-availed himself of the protection of the country of which he was a citizen;

     5) has expressed a desire to return to the country of origin, as the grounds for granting him refugee status have ceased to exist;

     6) voluntarily returned to the country that he left or left because of the danger of persecution;

     7) has left the Republic of Kazakhstan for permanent residence.

     2. Refugee status is also terminated upon expiration of its term in the absence of an extension.

 

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 4, 2009 No. 216-IV.

     This Law defines the legal status of asylum seekers and refugees in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
