Article 16. Identification and status of victims of human trafficking of the Law on Combating Human Trafficking
1. Identification of a potential victim of human trafficking is carried out in order to assign the status of a victim of human trafficking, provide the necessary protection and assistance, as well as prevent the risk of re-involvement in human trafficking.
2. Identification of victims of human trafficking is carried out by internal affairs bodies together with the local executive body of districts, cities of regional, republican significance, and the capital, which determines the direction in the field of social protection and employment, an entity providing special social services to victims of human trafficking, and a non-profit organization in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
3. The status of a victim of human trafficking is assigned based on the results of identification of a victim of human trafficking in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This Law defines the organizational and legal framework for combating human trafficking.
