Article 17. The participants of the competition for the positions of judge of the district court, chairman of the judicial board and judge of the regional court, judge of the Court of Cassation, judge of the Supreme Court of the Law on the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan

1. Citizens who meet the requirements of the sub-paragraphs may participate in the competition to receive a recommendation from the Council for the position of a district court judge. 1), 2), 3), 4) and 6) paragraph 1 of Article 29 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Judicial System and the Status of Judges of the Republic of Kazakhstan", as well as current judges.

2. Citizens who meet the requirements of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Judicial System and Status of Judges of the Republic of Kazakhstan" may participate in the competition to receive a recommendation from the Council for the position of chairman of the judicial board and a judge of the regional court, a judge of the Court of Cassation, and a judge of the Supreme Court.

The first part of paragraph 3 was suspended until 07/01/2025 by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 11/21/2024 No. 136-VIII and during the suspension period this paragraph is valid as follows.

3. Participants in the competition for the position of a judge of a district court and a judge of a regional court must receive the conclusions of the Council for Cooperation with the Courts and the plenary session of the regional court at their place of work. The participants of the competition for the position of judge of the Court of Cassation must receive the opinion of the plenary session of the Supreme Court.

The participants in the competition for the positions of chairman of the judicial board of the regional court and judge of the Supreme Court must receive the conclusions of the plenary session of the Supreme Court and the Council for Cooperation with the Courts at their place of work.

The conclusions of the Council for Cooperation with the Courts and the plenary session are advisory in nature.

4. Information about the participants of the competition, the date of the plenary sessions, the meeting of the Council for Interaction with the Courts, as well as the decisions taken by them, must be posted on the Council's Internet resource and published in other mass media.
