1. Self-defense formations:

1) assist the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, territorial police authorities (police officers) in the protection and defense of settlements, territorial defense facilities, and the protection of the population;

2) assist local executive bodies in carrying out territorial defense measures;

3) participate in the protection and escort of the evacuated population and cargo;

4) participate in the armed struggle in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan temporarily occupied by the enemy;

5) create favorable conditions for the use of troops (forces) The Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as reducing the effectiveness of the use of enemy troops (forces);

6) perform other functions stipulated by this Law, other laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan and acts of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2. Self–defense formations are formed under the leadership of an authorized representative of the military administration body, and in case of his absence - a representative of a law enforcement agency or a representative of a local executive body.

The training of leaders of self-defense formations is carried out in advance by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

3. Self-defense formations based on the decision of the Headquarters of the Supreme High Command of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan may be included in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the period of martial law and in wartime.

The provisions of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Military Service and the status of military personnel" apply to volunteers from among the self-defense formations included in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

4. In case of death (death) of a self-defense volunteer, injury, contusion, injury, mutilation or illness while performing tasks of territorial defense, material and other payments are reimbursed in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This Law regulates public relations in the field of territorial defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
