Article 3. Objectives of counterintelligence activities of the Law On Counterintelligence Activities
The objectives of counterintelligence activities are:
1) protection from intelligence and subversive activities:
the foundations of the constitutional system, state sovereignty, territorial integrity, economic, scientific, technical and defense potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other protected persons;
information constituting the state secrets of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
2) prevention, disclosure and suppression of intelligence and (or) subversive actions, including those related to:
the implementation of terrorism and extremism;
creation and activity of criminal groups;
illegal trafficking of weapons, ammunition, explosives, radioactive substances and nuclear materials;
illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors;
3) counterintelligence support for government agencies, state-owned legal entities, quasi-public sector entities, strategic and other facilities of the Republic of Kazakhstan of significant state importance;
4) assistance to government agencies in preventing and neutralizing threats to national security and promoting the national interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The tasks of counterintelligence activities may be supplemented by laws and acts of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 28, 2016 No. 35-VI SAM.
This Law defines the legal basis of counterintelligence activities and the system of guarantees of legality of their implementation.
