1. The main purpose of this Law is to create a legal framework for achieving equality between men and women in society, aimed at overcoming all forms and manifestations of gender discrimination, creating political prerequisites and necessary social conditions for the fullest realization of the abilities of men and women in all spheres of work, public and personal life.

2. The main objectives of this Law are:

1) ensuring equal rights and equal opportunities for men and women in all spheres of state and public life;

2) education and promotion of a culture of equality between men and women among the population of the country, non-discrimination on the basis of gender;

3) compliance with generally recognized principles and norms of international law and international obligations;

4) raising the level of the legal and political culture of society to ensure gender equality in all spheres of life, including politics, social, labor and family relations.

3. The basic principles of this Law are:

1) ensuring equal enjoyment of all economic, social, cultural, civil and political rights, regardless of gender;

2) formation of gender identity, elimination of gender stereotypes and prejudices in society;

3) Zero tolerance for any form of gender-based violence;

4) Equal participation of representatives of both sexes in all efforts to maintain security and promote peace.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 8, 2009 No. 223-IV.

This Law regulates public relations in the field of ensuring State guarantees of equal rights and equal opportunities for men and women and establishes basic principles and norms concerning the creation of conditions for gender equality in all spheres of State and public life.
