Article 5. Regional symbols of the city of Turkestan of the Law On the Special Status of the City of Turkestan

     1. The city of Turkestan has regional symbols reflecting its special status as a spiritual, historical, cultural, tourist center and architectural heritage of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

     2. The description and image of the regional symbols of the city of Turkestan are approved by the local representative body of the city of Turkestan.

     3. The spiritual, historical, cultural and tourist center of the city of Turkestan is a historical and cultural monument included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List, subject to protection in accordance with the provisions of the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage of 1972, the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi.

     This Law regulates the legal basis of the special status of the city of Turkestan and is aimed at its preservation, study and promotion as a unique heritage.
