Authorized body:

1) formulates and implements the state policy on refugee issues;

2) develops and approves regulatory legal acts on refugee issues within its competence;

2-1) provides coordination and methodological guidance to local executive bodies on refugee issues;

3) carries out international cooperation on refugee issues;

4) excluded by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 07/03/2013 No. 124-V (effective after ten calendar days after its first official publication);

5) excluded by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 13, 2014 No. 159-V (effective ten calendar days after the date of its first official publication);

6) carries out state control over compliance with

legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on refugees;

7) approves the procedure for registration and consideration of applications for refugee status, samples of the certificate of the asylum seeker;

8) assist, within its competence, a person recognized as a refugee in obtaining information about relatives living in the country of origin;

13) develops and approves a model regulation on the commission for the implementation of the procedure for granting, extending, revoking and terminating refugee status;

14) performs other functions stipulated by this Law, other laws, acts of the President and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This Law defines the legal status of asylum seekers and refugees in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
