The main objectives of state regulation, control and supervision in the field of inland waterway transport are:

1) creation of conditions to meet the needs of the republic's economy and the population in transportation, performance of works and provision of services in inland waterway transport;

1-1) ensuring the safety of inland waterway transport and its life cycle processes for human life and health and the environment;

2) protection of the rights and legitimate interests of individuals and legal entities, as well as the national interests of the State;

3) protection of the domestic inland waterway transportation market;

4) further development of the infrastructure of inland waterway transport and inland waterways;

5) control and supervision of activities in the field of inland waterway transport and navigation safety.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 6, 2004 No. 574.

This Law regulates public relations that arise between government agencies, individuals and legal entities in the field of inland waterway transport during navigation, transportation of passengers, baggage and cargo, operation of small vessels, including on bodies of water not related to inland waterways and sea waters, and also defines their rights, duties and responsibilities..
