Article 72. Collection of signatures in support of the candidate for deputy of the Senate of the Constitutional Law on Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan

     1. A candidate for deputy of the Senate must be supported by at least ten percent of the votes of the total number of electors representing all maslikhats of the region, maslikhat of the city of republican significance or the capital of the Republic, but not more than twenty-five percent of the votes of electors from one maslikhat.

     2. The support of the electors is confirmed by collecting their signatures. At the same time, each of the electors has the right to put his signature in support of only one candidate for deputy of the Senate. The signature after registration of a candidate for deputy of the Senate is withdrawn only on the basis of a court decision.

     3. The collection of signatures in support of a candidate for deputy of the Senate is organized by authorized persons and is formalized by subscription lists issued respectively by the regional, city (city of republican significance or the capital of the Republic) election commission.

     4. Each subscription list must have an ordinal number and include the surname, first name, patronymic of the candidate and the person collecting signatures, the candidate's personal signature, as well as columns containing the following information about the electors who put their signatures:

     1) last name, first name and patronymic;

     2) maslikhat, of which he is a deputy;

     3) date, month and year of birth;

     4) the address of the place of residence;

     5) Personal signature.

     5. The sample signature list is approved by the Central Election Commission.

     6. Completed signature lists are submitted, respectively, to the regional and city (cities of republican significance and the capital of the Republic) election commission, which, within five days, verifies the authenticity of the collected signatures with the involvement of employees of the authorized body for documenting and issuing passports and identity cards and draws up an appropriate protocol.

     7. If, as a result of verification of the authenticity of signatures, it is established that more than one percent of the collected signatures are unreliable, the candidate for deputy of the Senate is refused registration.
