The authorized State body for the protection of State secrets of the Republic of Kazakhstan implements a unified policy in the field of protection of state secrets and performs the following main functions:

1) excluded by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 13, 2014 No. 159-V (effective ten calendar days after the date of its first official publication);

1-1) develops and approves regulatory legal acts in the field of protection of state secrets in accordance with the purpose and objectives of protection of state secrets;

2) develops a system of legal, administrative, economic, technical, programmatic and cryptographic measures to protect state secrets;

3) excluded by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 13, 2014 No. 159-V (effective ten calendar days after the date of its first official publication);

4) excluded by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 23, 2023 No. 51-VIII (effective ten calendar days after the date of its first official publication). 5) excluded by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 23, 2023 No. 51-VIII (effective ten calendar days after the date of its first official publication). 6) excluded by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 23, 2023 No. 51-VIII (effective ten calendar days after the date of its first official publication).

7) develops a procedure for determining the amount of damage caused or likely to be caused to the national security of the Republic of Kazakhstan or the interests of government agencies and organizations as a result of disclosure or loss of information constituting state secrets, as well as damage caused to the owner of information carriers as a result of their secrecy;

13) exercise other powers provided for by this Law, other laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, acts of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 15, 1999 N 349-1.

This Law defines the legal framework and a unified system for the protection of state secrets in the interests of ensuring the national security of the Republic of Kazakhstan, regulates public relations arising in connection with the classification of information as state secrets, their classification, disposal, protection and declassification.
