Local representative body of the city of Turkestan:

1) approves the urban planning regulations of the territory of the city of Turkestan, with the exception of the urban planning regulations of the territory of the protected areas of the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi;

2) approves the design code of the city of Turkestan; -Excluded by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated On March 16, 2026, No. 270-VIII SAM

3) approves the rules for the formation of the architectural appearance and urban planning of the city of Turkestan in coordination with the authorized body for architecture, urban planning and construction;

4) approves the rules for reimbursement of part of the costs of craftsmen in the field of national handicrafts of the city of Turkestan at the expense of the local budget;

5) approves the rules for installing video cameras and monitoring video surveillance in places of mass gathering of citizens in the territory of the city of Turkestan, subject to the consent of the owners in coordination with the internal affairs bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the authorized body in the field of digitalization;

6) approves the schemes of urban development of the territory of the city of Turkestan, developed in the implementation of the general plan of the city of Turkestan;

7) approves the rules for the provision of tourist services for the transportation of tourists in the territory of the city of Turkestan in coordination with the authorized body in the field of tourism activities;

8) approves the procedure for the use of regional symbols in the territory of the city of Turkestan;

9) exercises other powers to ensure the rights and legitimate interests of citizens in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This Law regulates the legal basis of the special status of the city of Turkestan and is aimed at its preservation, study and promotion as a unique heritage.
