1. Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan permanently residing in its territory are required to have an identity card.

2. An identity card is issued to citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan from the age of sixteen.

3. Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who leave for permanent residence abroad shall submit their identity cards to the internal affairs bodies.

4. The identity card of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan is issued for a period of validity of ten years.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 29, 2013 No. 73-V.

This Law defines the legal basis of identity documents, establishes requirements for their registration, and regulates activities related to the production, issuance, replacement, delivery, seizure and destruction of identity documents.
