About the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Religious Affairs

Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 18, 2011 No. 84

In accordance with subparagraph 3) Article 44 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan

I DECREE:      

1. Reorganize the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan by allocating The Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Religious Affairs (hereinafter referred to as the Agency) with the transfer of functions and powers in the field of interfaith harmony, ensuring citizens' rights to freedom of religion and interaction with religious associations.      

2. The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan: 1) to abolish the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan; 2) to ensure that the Agency transfers the staffing of the abolished Committee on Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan; 3) to take other necessary measures to implement this Decree.      

3. To designate the Agency as the legal successor for the obligations of the abolished Committee on Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.      

4. To make the following addition to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 22, 1999 No. 6 "On the structure of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan":      Paragraph 1 should be supplemented with the following paragraph: "Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Religious Affairs".      

5. Control over the implementation of this Decree is entrusted to the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.      

6. This Decree shall enter into force from the date of signing.
