Declaring 2002 the Year of Health

Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 30, 2001 No. 751.

In order to improve the health status of the people of Kazakhstan, support the healthcare system and promote a healthy lifestyle, I hereby decree:      

1. Declare 2002 the Year of Health.      

2. The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan:      

1) to form a State Commission for the Year of Health by January 20, 2002, including representatives of relevant government agencies, interested public associations, prominent scientists, deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and representatives of large businesses.;      

2) instruct the akims of the regions, Astana and Almaty cities to create similar commissions;      

3) ensure widespread propaganda and media coverage

information on the activities envisaged within the framework of the Year of Health;

    4) finance the activities for the Year of Health in accordance with the procedure established by law.

    3. The State Commission shall approve, by January 25, 2002, a plan of appropriate measures for the organization and holding of the Year of Health.

    4. This Decree comes into force from the date of publication.
