PROTOCOL on Amendments and Additions to the Protocol to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on checkpoints across the Kazakh-Uzbek State Border dated September 4, 2006

The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, hereinafter referred to as the Parties, in order to coordinate international and bilateral checkpoints that facilitate the development of communication between the two countries, guided by Article 10 of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Checkpoints across the Kazakh-Uzbek State Border dated November 16, 2001 (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement), have agreed on the following:
Article 1
In The Protocol to the Agreement, signed on September 4, 2006 (hereinafter referred to as the Protocol), to make the following amendments and additions: Add the following paragraphs to article 1: "The following terms are used by the Parties in the Protocol: A bilateral (interstate) checkpoint is intended for border crossing only by citizens and vehicles of the States of the Parties. International (multilateral) checkpoint - for crossing the state border by individuals, regardless of their citizenship (nationality), and vehicles registered in the territories of the States of the parties and third countries."; in the List of checkpoints across the Kazakh-Uzbek state border, which is an annex to the Protocol: in the fourth column "Checkpoint status", after the word "International", add the word "(multilateral)", after the word "Bilateral", add the word "(interstate)"; in the section "Railway checkpoints", the name of the checkpoints should read as follows: «

Article 2
This Protocol shall enter into force in accordance with the procedure provided for in Article 11 of the Agreement. This Protocol is valid until the termination of the Agreement. Done in Astana on September 7, 2012, in two original copies, each in the Kazakh, Uzbek and Russian languages, all texts being equally authentic. In case of disagreement in the interpretation of the provisions of this Protocol, the Parties will be guided by the text in Russian.
