On the introduction of the national currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 12, 1993 No. 1399
In accordance with Article 78 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Resolution of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 29, 1993, the STATEMENT:
1. It was put into circulation on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 08:00 (local time) on November 15, 1993. The national currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan is tenge.
2. To establish that from 08.00 hours (local time) on November 18, 1993, tenge becomes the only legal tender in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Tenge consists of 100 tiyns. Cash in the Republic of Kazakhstan is in circulation in the form of banknotes and coins.
3. Tenge is required to be accepted on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan in all types of payments by all individuals and legal entities, regardless of their forms of ownership, as well as by banks for crediting to deposits and accounts without any restrictions.
4. This Decree comes into force from the moment of signing.
