Article 106. Meetings of the Penal Enforcement Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan
1. Convicted persons are provided with visits on the territory of the institution:
1) short-term duration of two hours;
2) long–term for two days, and those with a third positive degree of behavior - for three days.
In medium-security institutions, long-term visits with accommodation outside the institution for up to five days are provided for the detention of minors.
At the written request of the convicted person or the person who arrived for the meeting, the duration of the meeting may be shortened.
2. Short-term visits are provided with a spouse, relatives or other persons in the presence of a representative of the administration of the institution with the right to receive a transfer.
3. Long-term visits to convicts, with the exception of patients with a contagious form of tuberculosis, are provided with the right to live together with a spouse, close relatives, unmarried persons with children with the convict, and the right to receive a transfer.
4. Convicts who arrive at the facility are granted a first date after leaving the quarantine department.
Subsequent visits are provided in accordance with this Code and the internal regulations of the institutions.
5. At their request, convicts are allowed to replace a long–term visit with a short-term one, and in medium-security institutions for minors, a long-term visit with accommodation outside the institution is a short-term visit with an exit from the institution. Dates are not allowed to combine or separate.
6. In order to receive qualified legal assistance, convicted persons, upon their written or oral application, are provided with visits with lawyers without limitation of their number, duration and in conditions ensuring their confidentiality.
