Article 17. Environmental information of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan

1. Environmental information means any information in written, visual, audio, electronic or any other material form.:

1) on the state of the components of the natural environment, natural and man-made objects, natural complexes, objects of the state nature reserve fund, biodiversity, including genetically modified organisms, and the interaction between them, as well as on ecosystem services, the gene pool and genetic resources of living organisms;

2) about the factors influencing and (or) capable of influencing the elements specified in subparagraph 1) of this paragraph;

3) on administrative, legislative, programmatic and other measures taken by the State, including regulatory legal acts, policies, plans, programs and agreements being developed in the field of the environment, which have and (or) may have an impact on the elements and factors specified in subparagraphs 1) and 2) of this paragraph, including the number of planned, implemented or completed measures and actions aimed at protecting the elements specified in subparagraph 1) of this paragraph;

4) on the activities of government agencies, individuals and legal entities that have and (or) are capable of influencing the elements and factors specified in subparagraphs 1) and 2) of this paragraph, as well as planned, implemented or performed measures and actions aimed at protecting such elements;

5) on the environmental legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and reports on its application;

6) cost-benefit analysis, other types of economic analysis and assumptions used when making decisions by government agencies and officials within the framework of planned measures and activities provided for in subparagraphs 3) and 4) of this paragraph;

7) on the state of human health, environmental safety, including, if applicable, concentrations of pollutants in the food chain, environmental living conditions of people, the state of cultural facilities, buildings and structures to the extent that they are affected or may be affected by the state of the environmental elements specified in subparagraph 1) of this paragraph, or through these elements, the factors, activities or measures specified in sub-paragraphs 2), 3) and 4) of this paragraph;

8) vulnerability to climate change, existing and projected impacts of climate change, as well as measures to adapt to climate change.

2. Environmental information is publicly available and is not subject to restriction and secrecy.
