Internal affairs agencies:

1) accept applications for citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan from persons permanently residing in the Republic of Kazakhstan and, together with the necessary documents, send them to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for consideration;

2) carry out registration of acquisition of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan and renunciation of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, provided for by international treaties of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

3) register the loss of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan by persons permanently residing and temporarily staying in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

3-1) register the deprivation of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

4) apply for admission to the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in a simplified (registration) procedure;

5) determine the affiliation (non-affiliation) to the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan of persons permanently residing in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

6) implement, within their competence, the state policy in the field of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

7) develop and approve regulatory legal acts on citizenship issues in accordance with the goals and objectives of this Law and the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

8) exercise other powers provided for by this Law, other laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, acts of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 20, 1991 1017-XII. This Law regulates the issues of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
