The penal enforcement legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan is based on the principles of:

1) respect for the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of man and citizen;

2) legality;

3) humanism;

4) differentiation of conditions of execution of punishments;

5) individualization of the execution of punishment and other measures of criminal legal impact;

6) the rational application of coercive measures;

7) combining punishment with corrective action;

8) stimulating the law-abiding and active socially useful behavior of convicts.
