On certain issues related to the transfer of lands from the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site to the category of reserve lands
Resolution No. 258 of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated April 11, 2026
In accordance with Articles 137 and 143 of the Land Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan DECIDES:
1. Transfer the lands of the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, with a total area of 832.9 thousand hectares, to the reserve lands of the Karaganda, Pavlodar, and Abay regions, in accordance with the annex to this resolution, for the purpose of subsequent transfer to the lands of the nuclear safety zone.
2. The akimats of the Pavlodar region and the Abay region shall take the appropriate measures arising from paragraph 1 of this resolution.
3. Establish that the lands of the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, previously transferred in accordance with Resolution No. 172 of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated February 7, 1996, “On the Transfer of Lands of the Former Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site to the Reserve Lands,” to the reserve lands with a total area of 1,816,600 hectares, except for the lands specified in paragraph 1 of this resolution, are under the jurisdiction of the akimats of the Karaganda, Pavlodar, and Abay regions.
4. This resolution shall enter into force on the date of its first official publication.
