On the opening of the Akhmet Yasavi Turkestan State University

Decree of the President of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic No. 329 dated June 6, 1991

 1. In order to expand the training of highly qualified specialists for the national economy of Kazakhstan at the university level, and to develop the city of Turkestan, the oldest scientific and cultural center of Central Asia, to open the Turkestan State University in 1991.      

2. To give Turkestan State University the name of Akhmet Yasavi, a great poet and educator.      

3. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR shall, within one month, determine the main tasks facing Turkestan State University, resolve issues of financing, personnel and logistical support, and the location of this university.
