The Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, hereinafter referred to as the High Contracting Parties, in the spirit of friendship and good-neighborliness, mutual respect and equality, based on the principles of respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of the borders of both States, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, mutual understanding and mutual trust, in order to clarify and determine the passage in certain sections the lines of the State Border between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan (hereinafter - State Border), in accordance with article 4 of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the Kazakh-Uzbek State Border dated November 16, 2001, agreed on the following:
Article 1
The High Contracting Parties have determined that the State Border line from border point N 16 to border point N 19, from border point N 84 to border point N 85, from border point N 115 to border point N 117, runs in full accordance with the Description of the Kazakh-Uzbek State Border line between border points N 16 and No. 19, No. 84 and No. 85, No. 115 and No. 117, which are Annex 1 to this Agreement and its integral part (hereinafter referred to as the Description of individual sections).
Article 2
The High Contracting Parties agreed to amend the Description of the State Border Line between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan and the 1:100,000 scale topographic map sheets, which are Annex 1 and Annex 2, respectively, to the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the Kazakh-Uzbek State Border of November 16, 2001, in parts, concerning the description of the State Border line from border point No. 16 to border point No. 18 and its outline on 1:100,000 scale topographic map sheets. These changes are set out in the new edition in the Description of individual sites and are applied to the sheets of topographic maps at scales 1:25,000 and 1:100,000, which are Annex 2 to this Agreement and its integral part.
Article 3
The State border line in the sections from border point N 16 to border point N 19, from border point N 84 to border point N 85, from border point N 115 to border point N 117 is marked in red on the sheets of topographic maps at scales 1:25,000 and 1:100,000, which are Appendix 2 to this The agreement. The spelling of geographical proper names used in the texts Describing individual sites in Kazakh, Uzbek and Russian corresponds to the above maps. All distances and coordinates mentioned in the Description of individual sections are measured using these maps.
Article 4
Any natural changes that may occur in the border area of these sections do not entail changes in the State border line.
Article 5
The High Contracting Parties will resolve all issues regarding the interpretation or application of the provisions of this Treaty through consultations and negotiations.
Article 6
The provisions of articles 7 and 8 of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the Kazakh-Uzbek State Border dated November 16, 2001, fully apply to this Agreement.
Article 7
This Agreement is open-ended and is not subject to denunciation. This Treaty is subject to ratification and shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of instruments of ratification.
Done in Astana on September 9, 2002, in two copies in the Kazakh, Uzbek and Russian languages, all texts having the same legal force. In case of disagreement in the interpretation of the provisions of this Treaty, the High Contracting Parties will refer to the text in Russian.
