Article 10. The name of the vessel. The order of ship individualization of the Merchant Shipping Act
1. A vessel subject to state registration in the State Ship Registry of Sea Vessels or the International Ship Registry of the Republic of Kazakhstan must have its own name.
The owner assigns and changes the name of the vessel.
The assignment of identical names to vessels is not allowed.
2. The owner shall immediately notify the mortgagees of the registered mortgages of the vessel of the change in the name of the vessel.
3. The procedure for assigning the call sign and identification number of the ship's satellite communications station is determined by the authorized body in the field of communications.

This Law defines the legal, organizational, economic and international foundations of public administration in the field of merchant shipping and regulates relations related to the transportation of passengers, baggage and cargo, ensuring safety in maritime transport and environmental protection.
