Article 12. Temporary transfer of a vessel under the flag of a foreign state The Merchant Shipping Act
When providing a vessel registered in the State Ship Registry of Sea Vessels, the International Ship Registry of the Republic of Kazakhstan or the ship book for the possession or use of a foreign bareboat charterer, such a vessel may be temporarily transferred to the flag of a foreign state based on a decision of the authorized body for a period not exceeding two years, with the right to subsequent extension every two years, but not more than the validity period of the bareboat charter, with registration in the relevant registry and suspension of the right to sail under the National Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This Law defines the legal, organizational, economic and international foundations of public administration in the field of merchant shipping and regulates relations related to the transportation of passengers, baggage and cargo, ensuring safety in maritime transport and environmental protection.
