1. To reduce earthquake damage, seismic zoning of seismically active territories is carried out, which is necessary for planning the development of the territory.

2. Depending on the tasks, object and scale of research in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, maps of general seismic zoning, detailed seismic zoning and seismic microzoning are developed in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of civil protection, which are carried out by research organizations in the field of fundamental and applied research on problems of seismic safety.

3. Maps of seismic microzoning are an integral part of the source materials issued by the local executive body for the development of pre-design and project documentation.

This Code regulates public relations related to the implementation of architectural, urban planning and construction activities in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the formation of a full-fledged habitat and human activity, planning and development of settlements, interuniverse territories, ensuring the safety of construction sites at all stages of their life cycle.
