Article 129. The procedure for electing deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the new convocation during early elections of the Constitutional Law on Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan

     1. Electoral events for the election of deputies of the Senate of a new convocation during early elections, with the exception of voting, determining election results and determining the term of office of deputies of the Senate, shall be conducted in accordance with this Constitutional Law.

     2. Voting on the election of deputies of the Senate of a new convocation at a joint meeting of electors - deputies of maslikhats of the region (cities of republican significance, the capital) is held simultaneously for two mandates of deputies of the Senate.

     3. The Territorial Election Commission shall distribute all registered candidates on the ballot in alphabetical order. To the right of the candidates' names, there are two squares for marking votes for one candidate or another. One square is set to mark a candidate who is elected for six years, the other for a candidate who is elected for three years.

     4. When voting, the elector puts any mark in two empty squares to the right of the names of those candidates for whom he votes, respectively, one mark in the square for election for six years, the other mark in the square for election for three years.

     5. The votes are counted and the voting results are determined separately for the two mandates of the Senate deputies.

     6. Candidates who have received more than fifty percent of the votes from the number of electors who took part in the voting shall be considered elected in the elections of deputies of the Senate of the new convocation.

     7. If the deputies of the Senate were not elected in the first round of voting, a repeat vote is held. Repeated voting is conducted on different ballots, one ballot for a candidate elected for six years, the other for a candidate elected for three years. The two candidates who received the largest number of votes from the electors who took part in the voting shall be included in the ballot. The candidate who receives a higher number of electoral votes than the other candidate is considered elected.
