1. Films are distributed on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazakh and other languages.

2. National films should be distributed in the Kazakh language and may be distributed in other languages.

3. Films, which are distributed and shown in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan in cinemas and other places intended for these purposes not in the Kazakh language, must be dubbed or subtitled, or provided with voiceover translation into Kazakh, with the exception of films of limited distribution.

When dubbing, subtitling, or providing voice-over translation of films into Kazakh, the order of the words in the sentence, their correct composition and pronunciation must be observed. Subtitles are presented in accordance with the rules of spelling.

The translation of dubbing, subtitling, or providing voice-over translation of films should not distort their basic meaning.

The rental and screening of films on TV channels are carried out in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on mass media.

3-1. The rental of children's animated films and films for family viewing, which have received state support in the form of financing dubbing into the Kazakh language, and their screening in cinemas and other places designated for these purposes in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan must be carried out in the Kazakh language.

Such films may also be distributed and shown in cinemas and other places designated for these purposes in other languages on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

4. The profanity used in the film must be eliminated by appropriate technical means (sound signal).

5. If other languages are used in the film produced in the Republic of Kazakhstan, along with the Kazakh language, the text in other languages must be subtitled or provided with a voiceover translation into Kazakh when it is distributed and shown.

This Law regulates public relations and defines the legal, economic and organizational foundations of the field of cinematography.
