Article 406. Assessment of the ecological situation of the territories of the Ecological Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan

1. Assessment of the ecological situation of territories is carried out on the basis of the main types of criteria using additional or auxiliary types of criteria.

2. Criteria for assessing the environmental situation of territories are a set of indicators characterizing the deterioration of public health and environmental quality.

3. The definition of an environmental emergency zone or an environmental disaster zone is carried out according to one or more basic and additional indicators reflecting a higher degree of unfavorable environmental situation.

4. The criteria for assessing the ecological situation of territories are established by the authorized body in the field of environmental protection.

5. When developing criteria for assessing the environmental situation of territories, the results of public environmental control, if any, are taken into account.
