Article 384. The last word of the defendant the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan
1.at the end of the judicial debate, the presiding judge gives the last word to the defendant. It is the right of the defendant to speak the last word. The defendant is not allowed to ask any questions during his last word.
The court does not have the right to establish the duration of the last word of the defendant. The presiding judge has the right to terminate the defendant if his speech relates to circumstances unrelated to the case under consideration.
2.during the abbreviated judicial investigation of cases in which a procedural agreement or an agreement on the achievement of reconciliation in a mediation procedure has been concluded, the last word of the defendant is not said.
