1. The identity documents are:

1) passport of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

2) identity card of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

3) a foreigner's residence permit in the Republic of Kazakhstan;

4) certificate of a stateless person;

5) the diplomatic passport of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

6) official passport of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

7) Refugee certificate;

8) identity card of a seafarer of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

9) a foreign passport;

10) Certificate of return;

11) Birth certificate;

12) travel document.

In cases stipulated by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a driver's license, a military ID card and a birth certificate may be recognized as identity documents.

2. Identity documents issued by authorized state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan are the property of the State.

3. Civil law transactions are carried out according to the identity documents provided for in the sub-paragraphs 1), 2), 3), 4), 9) and 11) of paragraph 1 of this article.

4. Identity documents used and presented to individuals and legal entities through the digital document service are equivalent to paper documents, except in cases specified by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of identity documents.

This Law defines the legal basis of identity documents, establishes requirements for their registration, and regulates activities related to the production, issuance, replacement, delivery, seizure and destruction of identity documents.
