Article 26. Recognition of a citizen as legally incompetent by the Civil Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan
1. A citizen who, due to mental illness or dementia, cannot understand the meaning of his actions or direct them, may be declared legally incompetent by a court, and custody is therefore established over him.
2. On behalf of a citizen who has been declared legally incompetent, the transactions are carried out by his guardian.
3. In case of recovery or significant improvement of the incapacitated person's health, the court recognizes him as legally capable, after which custody is lifted from him.
