Comment to Article 174. The end of the period determined by the time period The Civil Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan
This article applies in cases where deadlines are set in the form of time periods without specifying their end on a specific calendar date or the occurrence of an event.
When calculating the term in years, it expires in the last year of the term in the same month by name and on the same day as its beginning (for example, if the five-year term began on March 10, it will expire in the fifth year of the term also on March 10).
When calculating the term in months, it expires in the last month of the term on the same day as the date on which it begins (for example, if the six-month period began on June 3, it will expire on December 3).
When calculating the period in weeks, it expires in the last week on the same day by name as its beginning (for example, if the two-week period began on Wednesday, it will expire on the second Wednesday after the beginning of its course).
Part 3, paragraph 3. of the commented article provides rules for determining the end point of terms calculated in years or months, when the beginning of the terms is timed to the last day of the month. Since the last numbers of the months are not the same, the term ends at the end of the month. For example, the one-year term began on February 29, 1996, and expires on February 28, 1997, because this year is not a leap year; the three-month term that began on March 31 expires on June 30, because there is no 31st in this month.
