Article 218. Monitoring of compliance with the standards of permissible discharges of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan
1. Monitoring of compliance with the standards of permissible discharges and their impact on the water quality of a water body is carried out in accordance with the conditions established in the environmental permit in accordance with this Code.
2. Monitoring of compliance with environmental standards for the quality of surface waters is carried out in the control section.
A control gate in surface water bodies used for the purposes of domestic drinking water supply and fisheries management is installed at a distance of no more than five hundred meters from the point of discharge of wastewater (wastewater discharge points, mining sites, work on a water body).
3. The justification for determining the location and number of points where compliance with environmental water quality standards is monitored within the control area should be provided in the environmental permit.
4. In the case of a periodic (one-time) increase in the background concentration of controlled impurities, exceeding the permissible discharge limit caused by this background change does not constitute a violation of the permissible discharge standards.
