Article 157. Levels of the Unified State System for Monitoring the Environment and Natural Resources of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan
1. The Unified State System for Monitoring the Environment and Natural Resources is maintained at three levels:
1) industrial monitoring, public monitoring and types of monitoring organized by local executive bodies are carried out at the local level in specific areas of settlements, lands outside settlements, surface and underground water bodies, and specially protected natural territories;
2) at the regional level, types of monitoring are carried out within administrative-territorial units, taking into account the physical, geographical and economic characteristics of the regions, the presence of ecologically loaded zones and a complex of natural and anthropogenic factors affecting the state of the environment and the use of natural resources.;
3) monitoring is carried out at the national level, covering the entire territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, highlighting, if necessary, large regions and individual facilities of national importance.
2. Environmental and natural resource monitoring activities at all levels are carried out in compliance with the requirements established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of technical regulation, on ensuring the uniformity of measurements and on accreditation in the field of conformity assessment.
