Article 4. The main objectives and principles of the establishment and operation of agricultural cooperatives The Law on Agricultural Cooperatives
1. The main objectives of the establishment and operation of agricultural cooperatives are:
1) meeting the socio-economic and other needs of the cooperative members and protecting their interests;
2) increase the income of the cooperative members;
3) creation of a competitive environment in the fields of production, processing, marketing, storage of agricultural products, aquaculture (fish farming) products, supply of means of production and logistical resources;
4) infrastructure development and provision of direct supplies of agricultural products, aquaculture (fish farming) products from producer to consumer;
5) facilitating the acquisition of necessary resources by cooperative members on favorable terms and gaining access to financing for their production and other economic activities.
2. The basic principles of the establishment and operation of agricultural cooperatives are:
1) voluntary entry into and exit from an agricultural cooperative, and the possibility of entry for any person who meets the requirements of this Law and the charter of the agricultural cooperative;
2) democratic governance based on the equality of cooperative members: one member – one vote, regardless of the size and number of property (share) contributions, with the exception of associate members of the cooperative;
3) the election and accountability of the governing bodies of an agricultural cooperative to the general meeting of its members;
4) the autonomy and independence of the activities of agricultural cooperatives;
5) sale by an agricultural cooperative of goods (works, services) to its members at their cost price;
6) mutual assistance and provision of economic benefits for the members of the cooperative;
7) accessibility of information about the activities of an agricultural cooperative, association (union) of agricultural cooperatives for all their members.
