Article 509. Grounds for the application of compulsory medical measures CPC RK Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan

     1. Proceedings on the application of compulsory medical measures specified in article 93 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan are carried out in cases against persons who have committed an act prohibited by criminal law in a state of insanity or who have become ill after committing an act prohibited by criminal law with mental disorders that make it impossible to impose or execute punishment.

     2. Compulsory medical measures are prescribed only in cases where painful mental disorders are associated with danger to oneself or others or the possibility of causing other significant harm.

     3. The proceedings on the application of compulsory medical measures are determined by the general rules of this Code and the provisions of this chapter.
