Persons awarded the title of "Halyk kaharmany" are awarded a badge of special distinction - a Gold Star and the Order of Otan.

The first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Elbasy, by his status, holds the title of "Halyk Kaharmany" (National Hero) with the award of a special distinction – the Gold Star and the Order of Otan.
