Article 10. Powers of State bodies and organizations of the Law on State Secrets
Government agencies and organizations in cooperation with state secrets protection agencies:
1) develop departmental lists of information to be classified;
2) ensure the protection of state secrets developed by them in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including in their subordinate organizations;
3) participate in the development of the procedure for determining the amount of damage that has been or may be caused to the national security of the Republic of Kazakhstan or the interests of government agencies and organizations as a result of the disclosure or loss of information constituting state secrets;
4) ensure the protection of information transmitted to them by other state bodies and organizations that constitute state secrets, as well as information classified by them;
5) obtain, in accordance with the established procedure, permits to carry out work using information constituting state secrets.;
6) receive certificates for the protection of information constituting state secrets;
7) excluded by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 13, 2014 No. 159-V (effective ten calendar days after the date of its first official publication);
8) participate in the logistical and financial support for the protection of state secrets;
9) determine the categories of special-regime, high-security and specially protected facilities and their timely revision;
10) ensure, within their competence, that verification measures are carried out against citizens who are allowed access to information constituting state secrets;
11) excluded by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 13, 2014 No. 159-V (effective ten calendar days after the date of its first official publication);
12) resolve other issues in the field of protection of state secrets of the Republic of Kazakhstan within their competence.

This Law defines the legal framework and a unified system for the protection of state secrets in the interests of ensuring the national security of the Republic of Kazakhstan, regulates public relations arising in connection with the classification of information as state secrets, their classification, disposal, protection and declassification.
