1. The purpose of protecting state secrets is to ensure protection from threats of their disclosure and loss.

2. The objectives of protecting state secrets are:

1) development of a system for the protection of state secrets in order to ensure the national security of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

2) regulation of public relations arising in connection with the classification of information as state secrets, their classification, disposal, protection and declassification;

3) determination of the list of information subject to secrecy, the restriction on the dissemination of which is conditioned by the interests of national security of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

4) determining the circle of persons allowed to work using information constituting state secrets;

5) development, implementation, application and improvement of methods and means of protecting state secrets.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 15, 1999 N 349-1.

This Law defines the legal framework and a unified system for the protection of state secrets in the interests of ensuring the national security of the Republic of Kazakhstan, regulates public relations arising in connection with the classification of information as state secrets, their classification, disposal, protection and declassification.
